These 54 images, and corresponding Southern Paiute words, are original works of art that represent animals, birds, insects and weather of the Mojave Desert. Also included are people and cultural items such as elders, basket, gourd and cradleboard. Images are powerful tools for language learning. These cards in Southern Paiute (Nuwu) allow for the communication of ideas and concepts without resorting to English. Visuals also add interest, as these images by Fawn Douglas (Las Vegas Paiute Tribe) will appeal to different learning styles and can be used for memorization games and activities. Each image is created with the Procreate program with direction on language from Southern Paiute elders and culture bearers.
